Tonkin Highway / Hale Road intersection

Work on the Tonkin Highway / Hale Road intersection has commenced this month, which forms an important part of the upgrade to the Tonkin Highway / Roe Highway interchange.

One of the proposed modifications at the Tonkin Highway / Hale Road intersection involved removing the right turn movement from Tonkin Highway southbound into Hale Road. This has since been reviewed and, as a result, the modification has been revised.

The right turn movement from Tonkin Highway southbound into Hale Road westbound will be retained for traffic travelling on Tonkin Highway southbound prior to Roe Highway and arriving at the intersection in the right lane.

The exception to this is for vehicles entering from Roe Highway via the Tonkin Highway southbound on-ramp. The right turn movement will not be available for these road users due to safety reasons and bollards will be in place to prevent this movement.

A factsheet is available that includes information and maps relating to the Tonkin Highway / Hale Road intersection.

The Tonkin Highway / Roe Highway interchange upgrade will be finished by the middle of next year and information about the interchange’s final movements can be viewed here.
